Where are you located?
We are located at 1875 Geary Blvd. San Francisco, CA, only a few blocks away from Japantown. Our cross street is Steiner.
What’s inside the spa? What should I know before coming in?
At Imperial Spa we offer two separate spa areas for men and women (We do not offer co-ed spaces).
In both areas we offer lockers with keys for your belongings, hot jacuzzi, cold plunge, and dry and steam saunas, along with sit-down and stand-up shower facilities. There is also a lounge/powder room area.
We provide you with a complimentary set of towels, toothbrushes, razors, and sandals at the entrance (women are also provided with bathrobes). Inside the spa you will find toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, body lotion, hair gel, and hair dryers all available for your use. There are light snacks provided along with water and tea, but other foods and drinks are not allowed inside the spa.
Fully nude inside spa area. During your menstruation period we strongly advised against coming for hygiene reasons.
Should i bring anything?
Please refrain from bringing your personal razors and avoid using any razors before your scheduled appointment to prevent potential infections.
What distinguishes you from other spas?
We are a Korean style communal bath house known for our full body exfoliation scrubs and massages. Korean bathhouses are not meant to be dead silent but a place where you go with friends and family and openly chit chat. Also, the bath/sauna areas are genders separated guests will be fully nude.
I have a treatment. When should I arrive?
For any wet spa treatments involving a scrub, we ask that you arrive at least 30 minutes prior to properly soak your skin in preparation for your treatment.
For any dry spa acupressure massages, we ask that you check-in at least 15 minutes prior to your service.
What is our Pricing? We Offer treatments where customers can enjoy the spa for two hours at no cost, either before or after their treatment. For instance, a one-hour massage with an additional two hours of complimentary spa usage, resulting in a maximum stay of three hours (with an overtime fee of $40).
How do tips work?
At the end of your service the therapist will give you an envelope that you can bring to the front desk.

Do you take credit cards?
We do take credit cards as payment (Visa and Mastercard only). However, if you pay for a service exceeding the price of 50 dollars in cash, we give you complimentary gifts of Korean paper facial masks or scrubbing gloves.
Is there anything I should know?
We provide you with almost everything you need except for facial wash and facial lotion. We provide complimentary towels, 1 large & 1 small towel (any extra towel will cost you : $3) sandals, toothbrush, toothpaste, razors, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, body lotion, hair gel, blow dryers, bathrobes (for women only), and shaving cream (for men only). If you wish you can bring your own toiletry items.
What’s the red and yellow clay room?
The clay room is a heated sauna where the walls and ceiling are lined with clay. When this clay is heated with infrared light, it releases oxygen that detoxifies the body and helps with any fatigue, inflammation, infection, and menstrual cramps.
Lining the walls are pouches of mugwort, which is an aromatic plant known for its healing properties regarding fatigue, stress, and anxiety.
This room is currently only available in the women’s area of the spa.
Is it co-ed? Are there any co-ed areas?
There are no co-ed areas inside the spa except at the front desk.
Is there an age limit?
– Children under the age of 12 are not allowed in the spa.
– Spa treatments for guests under the age of 18 must be under the supervision and consent of a parent or a legal guardian who must be present at all times.
– Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult of the same gender in the spa at all times.
Do you have parking?
There is a small parking lot in front of the spa, with five spaces clearly labeled “Imperial Spa”. However, if it is full, guests can street park on Steiner or Geary, or park in the Japan Center Garage a block away on Fillmore between Geary and Post. Sorry, but we do not validate.
Do I need to make an appointment?
To use the spa facilities, generally no appointments are required. For a party of 6 or more please call ahead to reserve spaces.
For spa services, appointments are recommended but not required. Depending on the availability of the day, we can take walk in appointments.
*Please be advised that weekends are generally very busy, and appointments are highly recommended.
Is there a cancellation policy?
For parties of four or more we ask that you leave your credit card number with us to hold your reservation. In respect of other clients and therapists’ time, please cancel 24 hours before your appointment to avoid being charged 15% of the entire cost of services booked.
Can I request a specific therapist?
You can call ahead to request a therapist, but it is not always guaranteed that you will get the person you request. Weekends (holidays) get too full at times for us to be able to accommodate your request, especially later on in the day. For the best chance of getting the therapist you want, we recommend scheduling for weekdays or early on in the day on weekends.
